The Interiors Apothecary in June

The wonderful weather earlier this month gave me the opportunity to complete some upholstery

projects outside in the sunshine – a rare treat indeed. Here at The IA we can complete all manner of upholstery work, the smaller pieces (such as these footstools) I usually complete myself whereas larger pieces, sofas, armchairs, headboards etc are collected by our hugely talented upholsterers and completed at their workshop before being delivered back to the client.

If you’d like a quote for an upholstery project please email admin@theinteriorsapothecary.co.uk together with a couple of photographs and the dimensions of your piece.

SAVE THE DATE

We are delighted to announce that we will be collaborating with the hugely talented artist, Sharon

Harvey, in an exhibition to raise funds for the amazing Cameron Bespolka Trust from Friday 12th-Sunday 14th November 2021.

The exhibition will be held in Alresford, Hampshire and we will be donating 10% of our sales from the exhibition to this wonderful charity who will also be exhibiting with us.

We will be sending out invitations for a Private View on the Friday evening in due course but in the meantime do please 'save the date' as, for those of your local to Hampshire, we would welcome your support and love to see you there.

BACK IN STOCK!

We're thrilled that our fabulous Venezia Champagne Coupes which were so hugely popular at Christmas are finally back in stock and are perfect for outdoor entertaining. Sold in sets of

4 they're brilliant for serving champagne, cocktails and our delicious Elderflower Cordial.

ELDERFLOWER CORDIAL

June is the best time to make this cordial when the elder trees are full of their frothy blooms. Dilute the cordial with sparkling water or prosecco for a perfectly perfumed summer treat.

INGREDIENTS

175 g elderflower heads (about 25 large heads)

900 g golden granulated sugar

2 lemons - pared zest & juice

Place the flowers in a bowl with the lemon zest. Add 1.5 litres water, cover & leave to infuse in a cool place for 24 hours, stirring occasionally.

Strain the liquid into a preserving pan, add the lemon juice & sugar and heat gently, stirring until the sugar has dissolved.

Simmer for 2-3 minutes before straining through a muslin cloth or jelly bag.

Pour into sterilised bottles & store in the fridge. Dilute the cordial to taste with still or sparkling water & serve with a slice of lemon, a small sprig of mint & lots of ice.

Use within 1 week. The cordial can also be frozen & defrosted when required.

THE INTERIORS APOTHECARY LOVES...

Here at The IA we adore neutral schemes. SALT, the newest shade of white from Farrow & Ball is "inspired by the sea air ushered in by the Pacific Ocean and the delicate crystalline layer it leaves behind. Stunning in its simplicity, with a subtly California-inspired story to match." We can't wait to use it. What do you think?

The gorgeous new fabric we used as the background to our email promoting this Blog post is LALY, from the new Alba collection by Manuel Canovas. Both vibrant and exotic in character this remarkable embroidery employs a variety of stitch-work to describe Frangipani, Protea and Heliconia, all foliage from Polynesia and the West Indies. Perfect for adding a shot of vibrancy to upholstery, cushions, curtains or blinds.

To order a sample or request a quotation for any soft furnishing project please email us - admin@theinteriorsapothecary.co.uk.

AND FINALLY

A few images from our little corner of Hampshire this month. After a very slow start due to the cold spring, the garden is finally coming into its own & the field behind us is almost ready for its first cut of hay. We've hens with chicks, ducks & ducklings to keep us busy, plants to stake, a greenhouse to water & dogs to walk.
